Rob van Leuven, work planner, from Bergeijk
This year, Rob is celebrating his 25th anniversary at Lemmens. A perfect reason to ask him all about working at Lemmens and why, after 25 years, it still offers enough challenges.
“Before I started at Lemmens, I worked for another company in Bergeijk. That company occasionally outsourced work to Lemmens, so I was already somewhat familiar with the company. My previous employer decided to relocate to Poland, so I had to look for a new job. I always biked to work, and that was one of my requirements when searching for something new job. While cycling around Bergeijk, where I also live, I noticed an empty desk at Lemmens. I walked in and asked if that spot was available. It turned out it was, and a few weeks later, the owner at the time, Jan Lemmens, called to ask if I was still interested. I was, and that’s how I started as a work planner.”
“When I first started here, we still used a card index system where all packing slips were stored. That has changed quite a bit since then. I’ve had the opportunity to witness and be part of the transition from paper to digital processes. During my 25 years at Lemmens, I’ve also worked under three different owners, but I must say that hasn’t led to major changes. Of course, the company has grown and become more professional, but what has remained the same is the diverse work and the great team of colleagues. We are a small, close-knit team at the operations office, and we can say anything to each other, which makes working together very enjoyable.”
“Mostly the great colleagues I work with. Lemmens employs people from the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as a number of colleagues from Eastern Europe, but everyone knows each other and knows where to find one another when needed. This small-scale environment makes Lemmens a very pleasant company to work for. Additionally, a large number of our customers are still the same as they were 25 years ago. Of course, the contact persons have changed, but the fact that they are still our clients tells a lot about the collaboration.”
